Poem -

Burnt And Frozen

Attempts at being nice shot down againĀ
You act as if I'm obligated to acceptĀ
The constant change in your attitudeĀ
Because I know that if I doĀ
You will attack me for that too

No matter what I try to say or do for you
I get treated with harsh words that leave me burnt
Each insult is an ember creating flames in my heart
The kind that I could destroy you withĀ
But I'm not betraying the light inside of meĀ

Even when you barb me with your icy gazeĀ
And my skin freezes over with icicles growing in my soul
I will still never treat you the way I get treated by youĀ
Burn me or freeze me if that's how you want to beĀ
At least I can walk away knowing that I never did the same.

Relationships can be so hard. Sometimes I think it is love that destroys us the most x
