Poem -

Burnt And Frozen

Attempts at being nice shot down again
You act as if I'm obligated to accept
The constant change in your attitude
Because I know that if I do
You will attack me for that too

No matter what I try to say or do for you
I get treated with harsh words that leave me burnt
Each insult is an ember creating flames in my heart
The kind that I could destroy you with
But I'm not betraying the light inside of me

Even when you barb me with your icy gaze
And my skin freezes over with icicles growing in my soul
I will still never treat you the way I get treated by you
Burn me or freeze me if that's how you want to be
At least I can walk away knowing that I never did the same.
