Butterflies In a hurricane

Butterflies In a hurricane

Today it seems like the weather has decided to match me in spirits-
The sky is a menacing grey and the rain drops fall hard and fast as if they simply can't wait to meet their fate on the concrete below..
I watch them dance-
pitter patter..
Broken only by the occasional rumble of thunder and bolts of bright white lightening

In all the natural chaos outside
A flutter of orange and black catches my attention
A single monarch butterfly floats by my window, and off into the shelter of the thick leaves across the street ..
A symbol of transformation
reminding me that even in the harshest environment-
When my world is cold and grey and stormy
It is still possible to beat the odds-
Come out of my cacoon
Spread my wings
Fly away
