Can you see me

All you see is a lost soul without a place to call home, so you assume I must be damaged with issues or a syndrome.
This soul who looks desperate and sad from the outside, was at one time bravely determined and took life in stride.
You see the beggar that is cold and hungry, but at one time I was vibrant fierce and enjoyed being healthy.
You see all the things I am and you think to yourself, well that could never be, poor and alone, that will never be me.
You don't see me, I was once young and free, I was told whatever you want my dear you can be.
I had dreams, goals and drive,
believe me when I lived, I was alive.
You can't see, the young soul that I use to be, I wore a smile of hope every single day, I was happy in life no matter what anyone would say.
You don't hear my cries at night,
You don't see my internal fight.
I never wanted to be this burden,
But I am still just human and learning.
Will you stop for a moment and kindly hear my story, or will you walk on by and judge me?
People say, but for the grace of god there goes me, but does that mean that gods grace is only for thee?
Please see me, please hear my voice, and realise sometimes people don't get a choice.
