Candlelight

Haunted house on cemetery hill,
CandleΒ in the window gives off a chill.
Shutters fallen with disrepair,
Settling house moans a creaking despair,
Sinister shadows gather inΒ pitch of night,
Dancing in the eerie glow of the candlelight.
This abandon house on cemetery hill,
Dark and foreboding the air so still.
Crickets won't even chirp there,
Creepy house with eyes that stare.
Tombstones dot the grassy knoll,
Whispers softly to the dead to console.
If you watch with a careful eye,
You'll think that vision is a lie.
Witnessing an emaciated ghastly chill,
Snuff out a candle on the windowsill.

sounds so much like the house i was born in in Trinidad, saw one ghost as a boy just avoided seeing another, dogs bark quite a lot when they look at the yard....this one is written with the subtle meticulous touch of a great story teller who has seen a lot, great write....my second Tuborg is almost done and I still can't figure you out poetess, you are scary good
Hi Poetess Darkly,
When I was young most of us knew where there was an old abandoned house, that we thought was haunted.Β If you wanted to take your life in your hands, you swallowed hard, ran up to the creaky porch, and cleaned the years of dirt off a window pane and peeked in.Β We all made it back safely, except one, who we never saw again.Β (just joking)
