Canticle

Seven lillies smiled in the morning fog
In the hour of Miracles, when the flowers open to love
Seven lillies pointed the way to my river
And I stepped into my boat, gathered up my satin skirts
Severed the cords of my sorrow
Trembling, still unsure of my voice, but ready to sail...
Morning lillies serenaded me with poetry
Into the silver lined dawning I went
Three roses of scarlet kissed my lips
Green grass flowing like silken hair, bare feet running
Three roses of scarlet were set on my breast
as I sailed through blossomed fields and wakened gardens
where life grew like ivy
Sunflowers raised their Hallelujah heads to the cloudbursts
Three roses whispered of red sensuality
Into my velvet walled Keep he stepped
“Stay” he hushed “stay”
So l stayed while he sang his song over my body
I stayed while he seared secrets into my bones
I stayed till the lillies spoke in new tongues
And my river merged with the flow of his love
Down by the shore there are glittering truths
Threads of silver weaving promises into the midnight rain
Yesterday’s destiny is eclipsed by the tides
We touch the hem of Forever and are cast as her disciples
Here, where time is fluid, and
Distance retreats into a warm cocoon of silence
Love denies the Rule of Impossibility...
Down by the shore there is no Never
“Stay” he hushed “stay”
Our boats have burned right down to the crystal Waterline
Fate serenades us with Solomon’s Song, low and lovely
All our clocks are undone, darkly murmuring
My journey ends here, with him
