"Carnival that had to fall." By Ben Goode 2018 (c)

"Way up there!" the clowns had called.
No one then, was that appalled.
Offending now, no longer here.
No wowing crowds, and kids to cheer.
Protests, signs and hatred speech.
Decency was never preached.
An unwanted. unclaimed, ageing prizeΒ
A familiar ugly dark demise.Β
Abandoned, lost in time itself
Teddy on a dusty shelf,Β
All fun is lost, to be forgotten.Β
Heart tied up with candy cotton.Β
Dagwood vans are rusting there.
Show bags rotting everywhere.
A carnival, no jesting clowns.Β
Laughing lady, upside down.
Walking in this cloudy day.
Respect all gone, and blown away.
Shouting out for no real reason.
Smiling face the greatest treason.
Losing care, and have no more.
Carnival that had to fall.
