Caught in the Cobwebs

Caught in the Cobwebs
Caught in the cobwebs of my past
I want to break free at long last
It has been a long and rocky road
On my face the desperation shows
It has been a constant struggle to break free
Lord I hope that you are watching over me
I pray nightly before I go to sleep
My many promises I intend to keep
I ask to be forgiven of all my sins
Take me back to where love begins
My life’s path has been barbed with thorns
Love has always left my soul broken and torn
Friends just seem to come and then they go
Loneliness is tough that I already know
There is so much heartache as the world turns
Till there is nothing but ashes left to burn
Hate is like a weed that grows wild in the grass
When will we stop all of this bitterness at last?
I wear his sacred cross around my neck
Hopefully to honor and to protect
My love is a river flowing constantly to the sea
Lift the cross from my back and allow me to walk free
My praise goes to God in the heavens above
I want for only his comfort and his undying love
May he take my soul to where angels fly
Like a flowing river watch my troubles go by
