Cha-cha-cha-Changes

Cha-cha-cha-Changes

Which child do you love most?
You are my favorite first child.
You are my favorite second child.
You are my second third child.

When a musician is asked,
“What is your favorite song?”
he or she often reply
“Songs are like children.,
I love them all.”

Which lady from the past do you love most?
This is a tricky question
and different from the favorite child question.

When the first moved in,
she added lacey curtains to “class up” the place.
When the second moved in,
she changed my kitchen table and chairs.
When the third moved in,
she painted the kitchen
room sky blue to algae green.

I sacrificed my stuff
for the sake of the relationship.

Which lady did I love most?
Whomever I am with at the time
is the one I love most,
of course.

All my relationships were good
until they were no longer good.
Some I can say “good riddance,”
some left me with a broken heart,
most left on civil terms,
two I ask to leave,
two told me they were leaving me.

While I want to think
they lost more than I did,
in the end,
I learned lessons from each.

I am grateful for the good memories.
I am grateful for things they taught me.
I am grateful for the lessons learned
and  reminders such as
the ugly room color and
the ugly little chotskies and
the ugly kitchen chairs and
the white frilly girly curtains.

The Beatles said,
“Life is too short for
fighting and fussing my friends.”

The one I love most
is now filling all the rooms
with plastic flowers
and pictures of  her family and kids.

Hi Brother Poet James,

As I promised you yesterday, I have read two of your poems, this one which I found quite humorous.  I love the way you have portrayed this funny saga, of women that have come in and out of your life. When I look at the number of people that have commented on this, and I see none, it breaks my heart. But in all fairness to you, I want you to realize that there are literally hundreds of new poets that have come on to Cosmo recently, and oft times, those of us that have been on it for years, find it very difficult to keep up with all of them.  For instance, the only reason you and I connected was because you responded to a poem of mine, and I always try and reciprocate, especially with a new poet trying to expose their works.  Therefore, I would suggest to you, that you do comments for people that have already published multitudes of poems, as well as other new poets you might enjoy.  Lastly, I am known on Cosmo for responding to poems that I truly like, poetically.  You will see this by my comment.

Sometimes the woman of your dreams
Becomes a nightmare fast it seems
The relationship is over fast
Out she goes, it did not last

Yet other times you fall in love
But eventually, push comes to shove
She packs her bags for a brand new start
Leaving you behind with a broken heart

So you say, "Someday I will get it right"
"She'll stay forever, and we'll never fight"
"But till then I'll keep my revolving door"
"Because if it doesn't work, at least I got to score"

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Thank you Larry for your time in reading my poems and your well thought out comment.  I appreciate the compliment and the suggestion of commenting on poets who have been on Cosmo for a while.
I enjoy the process of writing.....Bukowski hated doing readings,  and evaluating other poets, but loved the writing process.

Thanks for recognizing my Changes poem -

I have learned lessons from all the people in my life whether it was for a day, season or a lifetime.

I trust the universe to make happen what is meant to happen.  When I need work or money,  it shows up.  If and when I meant to be a master poet.....it happens.  If not,  I enjoy the process of reflection and leaving some thoughts behind for those who loved me when I pass.

Peace
Brother Jimmy G
