Chaff Heart

Crisp tis autumn scent
Woe to summer spent
Fields of amber sheen
Plumes laden achene
Pluck petals love me not,
Head-full of empty thought
Mulch gut, none to spareΒ
Old farmer doesnβt care
Imposing in lush terrain
Vigilante to every chicane
Crows taunt absconding straw
Laughing with annoying caw
Thereβs vigor within chaff heart
Even beneath encrusted part
In vast sea of pillaged grain
Standing tall and still I remain
