Champagne Supernova

A poem for my uncle

Upmost respect to you Dear Mr Hill
What you say you’re gonna do is what you will
You’ve always done it, pulled yourself away
You stand by every word you say

Through the eyes of society, you’ve done it, aren’t you proud?
You’re not in a mansion, but your feet are on the ground
You haven’t let trauma fuck with your life
Two beautiful girls, a devoted wife

“She” said to me one day
What you gonna be when you’re older?
“Like Alex” I said
Shrugging my shoulders

“Fucking soldier” she said

It didn’t mean much then, I was a kid, I just said it
But I’m 24 now and I know that I meant it
I didn’t mean I’d mimic every move that you make
Though I have stole most of your music taste

I meant I just wanted to be as strong as you
As wise and successful and as armoured as you
You’ve been through the mill, there’s no doubt in my mind
That your life is how it is now, through years of grind

I see why you’ve done it
Separated yourself
I don’t fucking blame you
I’m gonna aswell

We shared a lot in life I just want you to know
That you are with me wherever I go
You’ve played a role of the absent for me
An uncle, guardian, a father, I know it’s deep

But,
You make me proud
You always will
My champagne supernova
Then and still

Wow. Crazy real and raw, such emotion that really shines through the page. Oh, I have to pin this one. Amazing work
