Checkmate

Society
Robs me of my sanity
Testing my patience
Burning out a tired soul
Egos are bruised and hearts are broken
Where Simon Says is king
Bloated on hope, unanswered prayers
Despaired voices cry out behind locked doors
If freedom were a rainbow, this world is colourblind
Deception is a game
we all know well and play
Trust no one, believe in nothing
or nobody whatsoever
We all lie, we all cheat
A sport of sorts
strips us of our integrityΒ
Victims of our own self indulgence and corruption
Toothpaste grins stifle wicked schemes
My soul, still much my own
quakes in revolt
On the crest of a new age, a new set of rules
we abide by
blindly, religiously
A uniform culture I will never fit into
As I quietly write up my letter of resignation
to forfeit a game I no longer care to play
This aint my scene.

Thank you so much. And yes there will indeed be more poems to come.
