Royal athlete of the plains
driven by hunger's pain
glory in blood stain
sharing from the kill.

Nimble flight
jaws of terror
as the prey tremor
merciless endeavour
surviving with the best.

The hunter of the prey
yet there comes a day
when man comes to play
to assume a different role.

Stealth and grace
of awe I view
yet you have
become so few
