Cherie’s Song
I praise my fondest pundit, who has a portal to my soul;
Her comments touch me deeply, of her I do extol!
For no one understands me, and analyzes my abstruse odes;
Than my cherished proponent Cherie, who knows the “silken roads”!
From the first day that I listed, with much anxiety;
A poem I had written, she gave her praise to me!
And she got my momentum going, for my ego she restored;
To now produce the long lost poems, for fifty years I’d stored!
Many of them have been inspired, by my lost soulmate “Nico”;
I lost him on a wintry night, some fourteen months ago!
But the odes I wrote of heartbreak, she read and shed some tears;
For she too, had experienced, the greatest of her fears!
For both of us have suffered, the canine soulmate loss;
When sleep will then eschew you, and all night you’ll turn and toss!
So my poetic soulmate, Cherie, I bare my heart so true;
And with every ounce of my platonic love, I pledge it all to you!
