CHEROKEE PRIDE

We awoke one day to a brand new world
Life as we knew it had forever been changed
We no longer knew exactly who we were
It's as if our whole world had been rearranged

We never sought them out nor asked them to come
They just stormed in and took control
It wasn't enough that they stole our land
They kept after our heart and our soul

A way of life that survived hundreds of years
Had disappeared and ceased to exist
Though we fought and struggled and tried to endure
Over time it was impossible to resist

What's sad is to know the reason behind it all
Is plain ignorance, hatred and fear
It's a shame to try to destroy a life
That throughout time allowed it's people to persevere

Try as they did to do away with a life
It will forever live on deep inside
For as long as you carry one single drop of blood
You can't deny your "CHEROKEE PRIDE"
