Chestnut Hair

Chestnut Hair

Take me and drink me. Take everything I've ever been.
From the ache and sorrow, to the honey and smiles I've made.
For no other will have my heart, like you the beauty my eyes have seen.
But don’t take it like it’s just another. Don’t take it and let it fade.
At the very least appreciate the truth from which it fed.
How your eyes hum a warming tune on a frosty day.
Or how your smile breaks my heart every time you go away.

Winter may be my favorite season,
But your hair marks my new love for autumn, likewise its shade is chestnut,
But in the season your exposed image would still the fall of the first leaf.
Your surface may be outstanding even the flaws I cannot see.
But it’s the inner beauty that holds me and keeps my love aglow
It radiates through your laugh, how it’s sincere and forgiving.
Although you may never be by my side know by yours I will be.
