Child catcher nightmares

When I was very little we went to see a film.
Chity Chitty Bang Bang.
It scared the stuffing out of me.
I love the flying car,
and truly scrumptious sweets.
But,
when the child catcher appeared
I was horror frozen in my seat
Nightmares for weeks and weeks.
This evil flamboyant man ,
keeping children in a cage.
As a child he was bogeyman unknown
now he has a name.
The fear has changed to anger
as he escalates the pain.
The Child Catcher is called Donald Trump
he is his nations shame.

Hi Tina, It was an allegory just begging to be used. I also love the film ( Ian Flemmings best work by far ) but ever since writing this I have had "Toot Sweets" going round my head like an earworm. I need a whistling lolly in my life.
Strange how nostalgia works, thanks Tina,
Nigel
Hello Nigel...
The best solution since many laws have been broken to not split families apart but, build family jails and keep them together and do what is necessary...
If a U.S. Citizen breaks the law and ran to another country we could be beaten and killed by that Country most probable...
Nevermind a chance to became a Citizen of that Land and not to ever be able to go back...
If those who break the laws and not have consequences then there should be no laws throughout the world...
I have to follow laws or I go to jail and separated from my family and I live here, I am a Citizen...
Would you defend me?
You wouldn't be able to if I break the law...
Those laws should've been followed and followed through many years ago...
Maybe, this Country would have been richer for its Citizens instead of jobs stolen for cheaper wages...
I don't know if you're a Citizen of this Country but, certainly don't understand why people have to pay consequences for breaking the laws...
Next time I mess up and I get arrested I'm going to scream discrimination because, if others can break the law and get away with it...
I should be able to also...
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Great movie...
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

Sparrowsong, I am a historian who could not resist the analogy while I feel so uncomfortable, as a historian, with what I and the rest of the world are seeing.
That said writing it has sparked me off in a totally different direction. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was written by Ian Fleming of 007 fame and I can't help wondering what made this famous old spy get so whimsical.
I must do some research.
Thank you Sparrowsong
Nigel.
Its not my fave film as a kid.. The Wizard of Oz was.. And Heidi.. with Shirley Temple .. But Chitty was good feel happy film.. The best bit was Grandad'"s flying bog...
Pauline I'd forgotten about the flying bog. I think it got overshadowed by the child catcher. As for the Wizard of Oz, those flying monkeys really creeped me out.
Still do.
Thanks Pauline
Nigel.
