CHILD OF THE DARK MOON

CHILD OF THE DARK MOON

CHILD OF THE DARK MOON

I was born under a second moon,
The dark moon, Ā a devil's moon
I was scorned as a wild child,
Wyrd child, an evil child.
No-one looked me in the eye,
Turned their heads, passed me by.
When trouble came, as trouble may
Whispers started, blame the fey!
Even family shied away,
Made the signs, Ā knelt to pray.
Turned from the Church's shade
I learned to love the forest glade.
I listened to the river's song
Assure me I had done no wrong.
Earth and forest welcomed me,
Nourished me and sheltered me.
So I became the wild and free,
The Watcher in the Wood.
So much time has passed since then,
The wheel is turning once again.
A dark moon is on the rise
A devil's moon will taint the skies.
I think on those who caused me grief
and shake my head in disbelief
As I kneel to beg and kneel to pray
For the safety Ā of those who cast me away.
