Childhoods Year

Childhoods Year

Buds awaking, green returning
April showers, birds aā€™ worming,
Children skipping puddles learning
how to get feet wet!

Skies are bluer, gray days fewer
burning sun and scorching skin.
Suncream slathered, sunburn hazard
playing in the midday sun!

Cracking leaves, deciduous trees
fruits abundant, harvest done.
Children foraging the hedgerows
eating berries, autumn fun!

Snow is drifting, flakes Ā are falling
Building snowmen, children calling
Icy slides to break an arm on
Childhoods year has come and gone.

Being Me

This is such a lovely poem! Children grow up so quickly and each and every year is different for them. This is like a snapshot of a child's year. And it is written in a very child friendly way. I do like poems that are easy to understand!Ā  x

Thank you so much for your lovely words! I know just what you mean when you say you like poems that are easy to understand..so do I ..so often I read something and struggle to understand just what it's saying..when you speak from the heart then I think the words connect and give it meaning. Thanks again xx

HiĀ  Susan, isn't it lovely to sometimes be transported back to a simpler andĀ  gentler time..childhood is a wonderful eraĀ  to live through and although I know we should grow up - how wonderful not to!..maybe we are all Peter Pan at heart?... Thank you so much for reading and I'm really happy you enjoyed it. xx

Lodigiana, there is it seems nothing you cant accomplish and conceive when writing poetry.
A beautiful poem lovingly presented and one to reach out and rekindle our younger and happier, innocent days.
You take any theme and delicately weave enchantment around it.
Beautiful and breath taking to view.
Thank you for showing me how to write and from your always generous spirited heart.
Take care and I wish you well my poetic friend.
Shaun.x.
