Children of the Corn

Children of the Corn

Little black child you are more than they portray.
Little black child don’t worry if they don’t give you the time of day. Remind them little black child they used your night to get day(they).
Little black girl don’t be ashamed of a hair texture they wish they could have. You straightening your hair while they busy trying to curl theirs. If you’re told you too loud say “who cares!!” You are the essence of all things great in this world. You carry life and care for it unlike no other. You are sister, daughter and mother.
Little black boy they say you’re too energetic but melanin and masculinity is oh so magnetic. Why you think we so athletic, prophetic. When you do claim your throne never belittle your own. WE ARE OUR OWN FAILURE AND SUCCESS.
Little black child stand tall and and say it loud.
IM BLACK AND IM PROUD!!
