China Doll

China Doll

Where have you gone, oh lover of mine?
I can still trace your lips, stained scarlet with wine
Did you finally drown in your sodden head?
Did your evil serve triumph and put you to bed?
You are my dagger and you are my dream
Swallow me whole just to stifle my scream
The madness and grief locked beyond your wall
Have mused me to sing, "do I know you at all?"

Where have you gone, oh my lover dear?
I had known you once in our fondest year
But our love's longest days are now lost in a haze
Beached on some shore where they sleep in the waves
He said, "keep up the fight. You're my pretty pet"
"You're my china doll, don't you ever forget"
"I'll not let you fall to the ground below, and I'll paint all your scratches so no one will know"

The circle confines and the cycle spins
When we dance in this tango we're tangled within
Your fiction still fights my delusion's death
So I'm dizzy and drunk on the lies and your breath
Your touch is my haven, your touch is my terror
Was this your deceit or was it my error?
My shape you can't break, but you forcefully bend
I am now far away, yet it still doesn't end

My lover, my friend, oh where have you flown?
You weren't the first to be left all alone
