Poem -

Christmas surprise.

He lived alone in the woods
Only venturing into town
A few months apart
For supplies

People feared his face
He wore a frightful frown
Dark rings around his eyes

He rarely spoke in kindness
Told tales of the worlds
Blindness and filled
their heads with lies

On this December day
He ventured into town
People shopping
everywhere
Inward outward
bound

Christmas was drawing near
Children Singing carols clear

Merry Christmas a lady said
As he walked by

Bah hum bug he replied

She couldn't believe her ears
Or his unpleasant looking snare

And crossed to the other side
Of the road with care

He mumbled under his breath
But loud enough to hear

Bah hum bug to all
who are you here

A little girl looked up at him
With her big blue eyes

What is it that saddens you sir
Christmas is full of surprise

Shall you be getting a gift
I hope your wish was wise

He replied with a grumpy voice
I hate Christmas it is my choice

The little girl shook
her head
I wished for a new bed

Mine was burn in a fire
When our power sparked a wire

I wished for a home for my mummy and daddy
A place to lay theirs heads

We live at the shelter up the road
But so many people
And so little beds

Just a wish to rest their heads

The man with the frightful frown
Looked down towards the ground

Dripping tears without a sound
Turned around so she couldn't see

What was this he thought
No it couldn't be

I've kept away from people so long
i always thought something was wrong
that my heart no longer sang in joy or loving song

I must go he grumpily said,
Forget Christmas and your bed
deal with what you've got instead

Wiping the tears from his eyes
and sweat from his head

Must be off goodbye

The little girl felt sad
Why was this man so mad

Christmas is a loving time
And all should be so glad

That night in the woods
After getting home
He sat there in silence
By the phone
But again it didn't ring

Bah hum bug
Stupid Christmas
No one calls no one come by

I hate Christmas
It's my choice that's why

Hours past and still no call
His head a tied mess

If only i had family here
Would i be cheerful like the rest

Maybe that's just it
That little girl my test

I will build them beds
A place that they could rest

Maybe i could have Christmas cheer
if i invite them over here

Stop this at once he said to himself
people hurt people
That's why your by yourself

Hang that stocking
Upon the shelf
You need no one else

That little girl touched his heart
Like none ever could
Made him feel again when he thought he never would

Weeks went by
Day by day night to night
Now santa's sleigh
Flying high on it's way

The little girl awoke come Christmas morning
Beside her on the floor a note
Look outside the door

Signed Santa

She jumped with joy
Thinking of toys
And all things bright to see

Upon opening the door
Stood shocked with glee

Beds for my mummy
daddy And me

And all the others
Come see

Yippee she said
As she nodded her head
I think i know who Santa is

He lives alone within the woods
Only coming to town for supplies
Gently she wiped the tears
from her eyes

Super Christmas surprise

That night by candlelight
A trail of carols walking into the woods
all the towns people
Singing as loud as they could

They stood at the mans front door
Singing songs of joy
Just a way to say thankyou
Merry Christmas
From each little girl and boy

A place to lay their heads
So many beautiful
Handmade wooden beds

The man with the frown
Was wearing a smile
Something no one had seen
In a while

He looked so happy
Within joy

Merry Christmas mums and dads
Every girl and boy
Laughing and singing happily
Within the Christmas joy.
