Cinco De Mayo

Yesterday was “Cinco De Mayo”, in past years I would celebrate;
Drink Margaritas and eat enchiladas, accompanied by my mate!
The cantina would be overflowing, patrons partying with glee;
Honoring our neighbor Mexico, toasting to our harmony!
.
But this year things are different, for we live in constant fear;
That we’ll catch the deadly virus, if people we get too near!
So the restaurants were all barren, no galas came their way;
Another mandatory sacrifice, for death takes no holidays!
.
As I penned this, I was imbibing, downing two very stiff drinks;
Looking back on the half a century, that this date I’d always ink!
For on my calendar it was circled, in anticipation of pure joy;
But I sat lost in dreams of yesterdays, no happiness deployed!
.
.
Cinco de Mayo
A joyous day from the past
A virus victim

My Dear Lady Marion,
I love your line "the essence of what it is to be human...gone".
Let's hope and pray we get it under control soon.
In my younger years, I would have probably drowned my sorrows in a "fifth", but was now able to limit my imbibing to two stiff ones.
All my love,
Larry xxx
P.S. We will be catching up on all the comments we need to write, over the weekend.
Superb larry, one lesson i hope we have all learned, don't take our time for granted.Â
My Dear Friend Simon,
Not to mention our margaritas and enchaladas.
Thank you for your kind words.
All my love,
Larry xxx
