Civil Unrest

Recluse hill darkly foreboding,
Β Sorrow River shorelines eroding
Echoes of grisly battles moan,
Demoralized splatter on stone.
Stories distorted, retold each time,
Lost in translation by said crime
Restless specters remember,
Infamous moment of dismember.
Laid bare by steely bayonet,
Cut-down in prime neβer forget.
Haunted din waft on wind,
Triumphant damnation hymned.
Heraldry eloquently praised,
Bloodred fields, hell twas raised
Yankees prick southern pride,
Bigotry instills as cultures collide.
Vainglory rumors of war
Assumptions cast even score.
Skeletal trees distantly smoke,
Volumes shriek as it spoke.
Time shant erase damages sought,
Β Treachery embeds victory fought.
History buffs once solemnly said,
No one survived to mourn dead.

Great write.Β You make it look so easyΒ but it's not..Β
Β
thank you Leah
This is an incredible poem.Β I have a lot feelings over this time of our nation.Β We were a troubled nation but like today the situation was blinded by corruption on both sides.Β Slavery became a vocal point but the motives of the leaders were not pure.Β We became plagued with deceit and greed.Β Β
It is my hope that diversity and love will one day consume our heart and soul for all humanity.Β
thank you Greg I wasn't sure if some would understand the significance of the poem
really cool write!...................................................................................Jim

Hi Poetess. The words you used throughout this poem I feel accurately displays/portrays/describes the nature of what happened over there and depth of the reality of how truly brutal and unforgiving βwarβ is and in this case the βcivilβ war between the north and the south over there. That mustβve been dark, dark times for a lot of folks. And still is.. man wtf are we meant to do?Β
thank you Greg I deeply appreciate the visit!
