Clearance Rack

An expiration date,
Just another way to degrade,

Because our bodies age and we vanish
By thirty, women get treated like we are broken toys

When the reality is that
We grow into better people with time

Like an orange when it blooms
You can't judge its character before seeing its fruit

Basing a person's entire value
On their fertility and prime is ignorant

Being called leftovers is a term to dehumanise
Women who have made different choices in life

Their life that no one can dictate
Because we all have our own fates to pursue

We are not pretty leather handbags to be
put onto a clearance rack when we lose our appeal

But human beings with a greater purpose
One that goes beyond reproduction and relationships.
