O’ how weak a heart trembles.
Afterthought diligence assembles.
Come slither forth, sharply sting,
Eagerly I await thine spring.

Stifle this burden which beats,
Maudlin inject defeats.
Thine strike bittersweet cure,
Hasten dispatch allure.

A chaste kiss on riveting lips,
O serpentine pawls venom drips.
Tender be pricked scorn,
Which expiry hath forsworn.

Cold tis bitter truth,
Forsaken, ye eternal youth.
Betrayal filched lover's heart,
Bestow treacherous dart.

Eyes of bejeweled gems,
Benevolence twixt apathy stems.
Forked art promises purpose
Fatal poison so arose.

Stroke scaly flesh appeases,
Unfounded trepidation eases.
Terry not lethal retribution,
I seek no deity's absolution.
