Clothes

We hang here in closet,
Quiet in the dark,
Taken out once a day,
Who will it be today?
Oh the envy we received, admiring glances,
So many on the runway,
Brilliant colors,silky psychedelic,softness,
The warmth we give,we sentinels of the room,
Bringing civilzation to the naked flesh,
Saving lives against the bitter cold,
Sent squeals of delight,
We,the modest and beautiful,
After a long day of saving lives, dignity, modesty,
We retire to closet once again,
Because after all we're just clothes.

Barbara, I'm a huge fan of your subject matter, the way you use personification is delightful here, and engenders thought, yes, if clothes could talk they would speak a lake of words, indeed....I've never looked at the concept before, very creative narrative and a clever ending, enjoyed, cheers poet
