Collecting the Loot

Collecting the Loot

While pumpkins are lit, and costumes are fit,

the treats are placed in the bowl.

The kids dash out, and roam all about.

What a sight to thrill the soul.

They quickly walk, take time to gawk

then hurriedly run along.

The night gets dark, the dogs shall bark,

and warn against the throng.

A ghost and two goblins, a sweet baby doll,

a clown and a cowboy with spurs.

A cop and a monster, a pretty pink pig,

a blond movie star wearing furs.

The leaves blow around as each doorbell is found,

and their buckets drop down to the ground.

Just one more long block with the stroke of the clock,

their stash for the night will astound.

Their trek is now done, quite a bit they have won,

as they gobble up gumdrop and bar.

They take off their suit and sort through all the loot,

as their parents know sleep is not far.

Thank you, Tina!  It needs to have a stomping beat behind it!  My 2 1/2 yr. old grand-daughter was scared!
