"New Life"

The little girl grew up
despite the warnings she had heard.
She did her chores and read her books,
no fun for little girls.
No germ filled crowds, no pets allowed,
no dog, no cat, no bird.
Just pinafores and solemn looks,
no fancy hair with curls.
Along the way, the sun outside
her door began to shine.
The music played, the flowers bloomed,
the key she held worked fine.
She grabbed the little sparkle
hidden deep within her heart.
She took a breath and took a chance,
she boldly crossed the mark.
Not long ago, the little girl
grew up to love her world.
The songs are sweet, complete with dance,
her cats laugh at her curls.
