Colorblind

Colorblind

She blazed a shade of red, a roaring fire in which heat was cultivated, warm and supportive when people were bitterly cold.
Yet, he only recognised the sheer inconvenience of a fire and often assumed her only ability was to burn things down to the ground.
Glistening yellow, brightened the darkest of days, she gleamed, she was the sun and its rays.
He sunburnt easily, overly fond of being in absence of the sun by remaining indoors.
Her lips, elegant, pale shade of pink, continuously dreamt of a romantic encounter with his but he despised her kisses and much preferred her with darker lipstick as it hid her natural complexion.
Lime green, greener than the grass on the other side, yet his failure to notice this was clear. All he had to do was offer seeds for her own growth. She could have been the greenest.
Purple plum, the ripest one growing but he didn’t pick her on time, she became inedible. He enjoyed a variety of exotic fruits, the juiciest ones and found plums to be tedious.
Her hair, it boasted a vibrant orange and to put it simply, he was attracted to brunettes, blondes and, anything, but orange.
Blue, she was the sky, he hated the clouds.
Blue, she was the ocean, yet he became irritable during the storms and even when the calmest waves swept by, he refused to wade to deep, leaving her depth unexplored.
A woman of many beautiful colours
A thousand and one shades
She was a rainbow, he was colour-blind.
