Come to me

Come to me
We Christians have a bad rep,
And for good reason.
You'll see us on Sundays,
Praising and singing to a God on high.
That is, if we fee it's worth it,
To get up and give it a try.
Come to me
We'll say how we Christians are
so loving and accepting,
Just like our Father in Heaven.
We may say that,
But do you live it,
When you see two men,
Hand-in-hand,
Walking down the street?
Come to me
You see, we're a flawed and sinful group,
Lost and wandering,
Among other flawed and hurting people.
The difference between us and them,
is mostly our own doing.
We pull them in with pretty words,
Then repel with our actions.
Come to me
You're not the only one who is guilty,
I know I am too.
We're hypocrites who pick and pull from the gospel,
As if we're the ones to decide what matters or not.
Come to me
You see, from an early age I rejected the church.
Such a beautiful figure with a dull soul.
No connection,
No meaning,
And if you saw a Christian out of church,
You'd soon feel like dirt.
I was set on being my own God,
'Cause you see,
Your God sounds nice and all,
But He just doesn't do it for me.
Sliding down a slippery slope,
I soon found myself without any hope.
Lusting for some sort of connection,
Wallowing in sorrow and sin
With no way back up again.
Not that I'd admit it,
I was ashamed.
Come to me.
Come to me.
Come to me.
One night I cried right on the floor,
Because I couldn't recognize myself anymore.
I begged,
I pleaded to a God I had abandoned
To fill me with something,
Use me as a weapon.
Come to me
God called to me and He's calling for you.
He's calling to that broken shell of a man,
The one Satan beat down.
God picked you up,
Made you clean.
He's calling for you,
Can't you hear His screams?
Come to me
His arms are open,
Oh so wide,
Wide as His arms were on the cross
When He sent His son,
The only living perfection,
Our way of living,
To be nailed and give up His life
For ours.
Your sin,
My sin;
All debt has been paid.
So you can lust after that woman?
Or get high with some friends?
Nah.
Do you think that's what God had intended
From grace we will never deserve?
I'm not here to inspire you,
Not to make some temporary change.
No, God's called me for a higher purpose,
So let's change our ways.
God's been waiting with open arms,
Come let Him in.
