Commercial Christmas

With each year that passes; it means less and less
Hounded by adverts and deals in the press

Rush for Black Friday; stampeded by crowds
Pay with your life just to save a few pounds

Christmas day’s over but more sales to come
From sofas and beds to breaks in the sun

Hampers for next year; costing the earth
‘Debt free’ is the promise, for what it is worth

New year, new you; every year it’s the same
Lose a stone in one month; that’s what they claim

Just buy what you need and you’ll stay out of debt
With food, shelter and warmth; all needs are met

Indeed. Instead of praying for our wants, we should be thankful for our needs.
