The Common Freefall Dream
That scary sight right before you jump out of the plane.
That uncertainty that you'll survive this.
Chills creep up and down your spine as you bravely make the leap.
Now in the air, speeds blow your cheeks back and your eyes dry out.
In your sleep you feel the wind against your skin.
Terrified, fearing the worst, you reach for your parachute.
Realizing that the cord is broken!
You pull, pull and pull some more, but no parachute emerges!
Death is all you think about.
What body part will I land on?
Why did I do this over a large field?
Will I die instantly or break all my bones and survive?
Self-questions only make you more nervous!
You scream at the top of your lungs when in reality you are sleeping like a baby.
Your soulĀ gets cold and trembles.
As you get closer and closer to impending death, you pray.
The ground is getting closer, and you only have a few seconds to live.
You make all the possible attempts to wake up but nothing's working,
It's like you were meant to die.
Then you question; "If I die in my dream will I die for real?"
Terror freezes your being.
The ground is seconds away, and you can only hope for the best.
And one millisecond before you hit the Earth....
You wake up.
Relieved that it was just a dream.
You wake up with chill bumps over your arms,
Feeling like you were really there.
Scared, you stay up all night and refuse to go back to sleep.
This is the common free fall dream.
