 I will remember forever the day

 The last time I talked with you,  

 (It seems branded in my memory)

 How your tone felt so uneasy,

 My thoughts were kept to myself, as well

 Held behind my back

(Like a child full of apprehension)

All we once had to share;

   Gone, suspended,     

  (A bridge of silence that separated)

Only time will tell for certain

  (But something whisper to me in the wind)

We shall never be the same again

Though I will miss you; true, I will

And maybe never know the reason

(Too bad I can’t read minds)

But then again,

 Time is not a place to  

Wander aimlessly   

(So just be happy, my old friend)

Without over-thinking

 As hope springs eternal;

 One day perhaps, we’ll be again
