Compromise

Compromise

Headed for the edge
The finish line, you’re mine
How can you replace the things, the times
What have you cheated yourself of, denied
How can you repair your mind
Nevermind
you’re dead inside

Why ask questions
you have answers to
compromised your beliefs
How did you lose yourself
and break promises never made
Staining comradery
Staining brotherhood

Creating a rival in those
Who would have died for you
How did you forget to love yourself
To be the person you’d hope to save
Knowing they’ll never come, become
How could you bury yourself
deeper than the grave, in shame

Being alive in vain
is far worse than decay
You're buried alive
in betrayal and hurt
It’s much better unhurt
six feet under the dirt

Sleep the pain away, in decay
A lonely endless sea of me
For eternity, such a tragedy

Brillaint write. It has a dark rhythm that ends with deep poignant lines. Well done

Ache (15 word challenge)

Is such love such a curse?
Ironic it hurts so much.
It evades, yet awaits.
