Confessions of a Dead Heart

A body

But not a mind

A heartless monster wonders

Rotting flesh

Forever limping forward

Going with deep hunger though without a soul

 It eats

The death of another

It finds decay to feed on to add to its own

It sees

Something in the distance

A flawless beauty shining with perfect glow

He wants

He walks

. . . . .

There she stands before him

He has never seen such a thing

He couldn’t possibly comprehend all of her purity and worth

Intense greed fills his non beating heart

. . . . .

She takes

Her beautiful beating heart

Right out of her chest as a gift

She holds

Out this treasure of life

To the monster filled with total death

She wants

To give all for the sake of love

Though he does not deserve a single ounce of trust

He wants

He takes

. . . . .

Does he take it as a wonderful thing?

Does he treasure this perfect gift?

Does his heart long to protect and keep it safe?

Does he hold it with loving care?

. . . . .

He takes

This unadulterated heart

And eats it whole to become consumed with his death

His stomach

Is the very pit of hell

That devoured the flawless life

She falls

Her eyes go blank

Her radiant skin now splattered with mud

He stares

 Down at her lifeless body

He finally realizes what he has done

. . . . .

But there is no going back
