To Conquer the Road Ahead

To Conquer the Road Ahead

To breathe deep and exhale
my skin tingles.

I find a strength, a resilience,
a peace and tranquility as well.

Turning my pedals, feet locked within,
I pull up, then down, fast, firm.

Somewhere this magic ensued.
Sometime the body became strong.

It happened suddenly, and here I am!
Ready and able
to conquer the road ahead.

No longer struggling.
No longer screaming.
No longer fighting the pain.

My being responds
With an exultation and want,
It craves for more and the fire
burns within.

I am that young man eternal,
A youth that was once and now is.
I shall cling to him as long as
God shall allow.

Wisdom and vibrancy,
Vigor, strength,
experience and knowledge,
a life's journey more prepared than eve
to conquer the road ahead.

How is it that I have this fortune?
How is it that I have these riches?
No price can be had
for what I have.

I turn the pedals
And they turn me.
Turn me into the man I see.
A man ready
to conquer the road ahead.
