Contradictions

Contradictions

Late at night, at break of day
Carry my tired, old heart away
Standing up then falling down,
In the corner stands the clown.

No matter where my heart resides
There is a devil lurks inside
Cooking up his master plan
To break the angels if he can.

Winter snow and Summer sun,
Tell me, have I lost or have you won?
Laying pride upon the shelf
Hear me crying out for help.

Look now, see inside my mind
Walking with my devil side by side
Just restoring my constitution
While seeking out some retribution.

Whether to stay, storms to go
Coming back to what you know
Or walking naked into the sea,
That is where I long to be.

And in my book I keep a feather
Reminds me I love you more than ever,
Thoughts still sharp, body decried
Oh man be cruel. Oh man be kind.
