Contrasting fish

Oh little fish, young, yet so old,
You have fought battles, won and lost.
You have bullied and been bullied.
Watched and said nothing, and something.
You have seen betrayal in those closest to you,
And found friends in the darkest places.
You have understood and have been left confused.
You have seen compassion
And watched it break apart like an iceberg.
You have loved, been hated or adoredÂ
All you wanted was to be looked up toÂ
And have someone to look up to.
You had the opportunity.
You did not take it.
You did not fail.
But adapted.
From being alone, secluded but free,
To being crowded, but captive.
You made up the rules
And broke them.
You have seen the end
And have not finished.
You have not seen it all but feel it all.
All this within
And yet you hide
Hiding, hiding, don’t let them see,
Never, they can’t see what lies meÂ
Why must you be in hiding,
From whom is it from?
Yourself, it can’t be, but all that is staring back at me is the fish of the sea.

Self reflection is hard work :) You portrayed it well. Like this very much. Blessings

Appreciation is all I ask for, I thank you. The ones that comment always mean so much to me.
I see a mirror here Max a huge mirror called life filled with hopes and dreams and their polar opposites reflecting back at you.
All of humanity's myriads positive and negative are also revealed.
Guess it comes down to accepting that and choosing to see it.
And you see with better eyes my friend and accept what is thrown back from our own personal reflector.
A soul searching write and fearless in what you say.
Just respectfully journeyed back to see where it all began Max and well worth arriving here, for I wasn't disappointed.
Thanks Max and will be visiting your good self again.
Have a good one and enjoy the time off.👍
Your mate Shaun.
Hey mate, sorry for getting back so late on this one, I've been quiet literally off the beaten track, as Aussies commonly do. You sure did have the commitment to dig out this one! Honestly, the further I go back to these older writes, the more and more like a diary it becomes. Besides the subtle embarrassment and shortfalls, I stand by my creations, for as you say they are reflection of one self, perhaps a younger one if that! Hope you're enjoying your time off too! Always fantastic to hear from you, again sorry for the snail mail. Cheers! Your friend Max!
