Coronapoem

Just write something she said
Let go of the feelings and responsibilities that bind you
Like a vice, they are constricting the creativity that flows so easily through your veins
You are blinded by your greed and your ambition
You have lost your way in a world of consumerism and self-gratification
You are too busy keeping up to date with the biased news that sinks hooks deep
Ā
Just write something she said
Tell us of the love and strength that builds in crumbling sands
The hope that seems to blow away in huge clouds of dust
The despair that climaxes in flames, blackness and loss
The ruins, the loss of life and a great hole created
Filled, reinforced, doused and replaced by the green powered rains
Ā
I will write something I said
I worry the darkness is building in the world, like some fantasy novel
Yet there, like a candle flickering in the forest
A path, a hidden track only visible in the moonlight
The way out for everyone, the searching over
Just stay the fuck away from everybody else
Ā
I will write something I said
One day all of this will be over and we will be free, maybe like the sixties
Repression and suppression always rebound in the most peculiar ways
And sadly, there will be all the typical xenophobic blaming and persecution
Easy to turn a blind eye to that shit as we get ignorant, drunk, stoned or whatever
In the cocoons we have masterfully built and take with us
Ā
There, I wrote itā¦.
