CRISES AND PERSPECTIVES

In these uncertain times of a pandemic
Do we get things out of proportion?
We are all going to die someday, somehow.
Though of course we should
Take reasonable precautions.

Are we overreacting to
A disease from which
Most of us will not die?
(Even those who contract Coronavirus)
Need people panic buy?

And too...Is there a flip- side
To our perspectives
In these worrying times?
Do we see things in a different light?
Is life really so hard?
(I tend to think it is)
But do we oft lose sight

Of what is important-
Realising only when faced
With a global emergency
What really is?
Perhaps we consciously value closeness
When advised we
Should not kiss?

Perhaps we have it pretty good
For most of the time,
Taking our easy lives for granted
(Access to shops, goods, cafes, clubs)
Realising only when the status quo
Is threatened
What truly matters?
Families are important
(We believe)
And so we get in touch.

I don't know: Maybe it's just me...
But I'm questioning what's important.
