Cross the River

Cross the River
Â
Want to cross the river of life to get to the other side
For it is on the ever turbulent rapids that I ride
Â
Want to put my heart in a warm and caring place
And dry the ever flowing tears from my sad face
Â
Learn how to love and to live in the light
Say my prayers to God in the dark of night
Â
To catch a falling magical night star
Bandage with hope all of my battle scars
Â
If I had all of those moonlit dreams of yesterday
Feel they would make me a better man today
Â
Sands in the hourglass just flow continually onward
Hope grows flourishing in the gardens of my yard
Â
Want to rises from my own ashes from the fire
And to fulfill my heart’s one longing desire
Â
Want to climb to the summit of the mountain peak
Where the my outlook doesn’t seem so bleak
Â
My heart has been bound and locked in chains
Got to find the key and free my mortal remains
Â
I have so many broken fences to mend
I’ll follow the brick road to see where it ends
Â
This life’s a journey yet so many are lost
Their poor hearts simply can’t bear the cost
Â
In an endless field of wild daisies naked I lay
Relaxed but aware I still have dragons to slay
Â
Tell me just how many crosses does one have to bare
I’ll cross the bridge when I eventually get there
Â
The ever restless sea of dreams is calling me
Sleep comes to tired eyes in the struggle to be free
Â
Let the wild waves caress my inviting skin
Allow my loving heart to flourish from within
Â

Hi Gary...liked this very much- I feel that you have paced this piece perfectly so that the flow and rhythm carry you forward to the next stanza seemlessly- well done!
