Poem -

Cuddled

The heart of a child
May know no sin
A life not picked
Just thrown in
Sink or swim

Hatred and love
Will never blend
Smiles replaced by tears
Cried over and over again
By a little kid

A childhood never lived
Run and hide
In the closet
Behind the bed
Scared and helpless
Hide your face
Cover your ears
Try to hide from fears

Under the wing
Someone crazy in the head
Makes a wet pillow
At night in bed
Praying to God
To live with him instead

Wasted youth
Thinking you are wise
Strife stays buried inside
You see evil in his eyes
Cold heart... evil resides

A scream to remember him
Follows you till you are dead
Do not share horrors of your life
Or you will be looked at
In a different light

A whole life to get over
Somebody else's sin
You should not have lived
Life is not fair
For a abused kid

Grown...

You say your final goodbye
Evil no longer in your life

If love controls your heart and mind
If you let hate subside
Disappearing from your life
Then you won the fight
God will smile on you with delight

And cuddle with you every night

I have never ever understood how adults can hurt children either physically or psychologically Terry and you are right the damage is lifelong. Sad write that speaks of a tragic reality ?
