Dad

​​​​Dads had a stroke,the call I got 
this conversation I have not forgot
I sat crying as this man was my dad
going to see him was so bad 
To see a strong man so weak
but t fight he did and found his
This was his only choice.
He couldn't walk but we helped him
Because he was our dad a year later
He got worse diagnosis was vascular
Dementia bed bed hed become
Totally reliant on my mum nursed him
Best way ever the love they has was forever
falling out of his bed I'd go round
To pick him up looking dazed at me
I'd act silly to make him laugh as I
Helped look after him to.
Stopped eating went so thin and then
One day he said to me mele I don't want to be like this 
I know dad I'd say if I'd have my way
I'd take you out but so poorly I couldn't do, but I knew I could look after you
I sat for hrs held you hand talked to you
So you knew I was there near the end
The others didn't know what to do just talk and tell him he'll be ok that you love he will hear you say.
Got that call from my nephew he's gone that was it life as been so different since you've gone 
No one speaks it's all wrong
But to dad I will always miss
Saying goodbye with a last kiss
I know your watching me and this 
I promise to do better
I love you dad
