Dad Poem

Dad Poem

The annual trip
To the firework stand
When I was little
You held my hand

I rub your face
To express my love
We played catch
With a softball glove

We work to bring
The outdoors indoors
I’m inspired by your love
For the lakeshore

From you I inherit
My lack of dance
Around the house
We awkwardly prance

Thanks for coaching me
In basketball
And picking me up
Every time I fall

I love you
Beyond compare
Even when you scratch me
With your beard hair
