~ DARKNESS ~

Something thick, heavy,
waiting,
on the horizon.
longing to become the overcoat,
the keeper,
the disguiser of light...
In its vapor
a suggestion
of stars,
that may (one day)
implode,
and become the black hole,
the perfection
of itself....
Its fierce capacity for
enveloping,Â
devouring,
even the common interests
of men like me,
frightens
my soul....and my ability
to care for it.
Am I capable of evil,
torment?
Will I too drown
in itsÂ
overwhelmingness...
Will I struggle
for breath...
In the darkness....

Yikes Tony! That first stanza pulled me right in. Like a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. Some temptations can trick us into the dark. That’s what I felt in your piece. Do you have the mindfulness, the strength to keep it tamed? Your narration gave the entire piece a real eerie, creepy feel. That black hole is a sense of unknown and we humans never tend to like such places. A gripping read which highlights our continuous battles with our own inner demons. Another fine write my lovely friend :) ❤️

Hi Tony, long time no see. Intriguing poem, kind of unnerving creativity. Hope you and your family have been well. So glad to see you are still writing and creating.Â
