Dead By Sunset

Earth

Dead By Sunset

Breaking the horizon glows a perfect pretty pink,

As this deity touches everything with its blazing blinding gaze,

It looks down upon us,

With great disappointment vowing vengeance,

Day after day nothings changed destined to remain the same,

Everyone wants to point the finger,

When it’s also yourself that is to blame,

We’ve tainted the waters and soiled the sands,

Yet when the stone is thrown all of us hide our hands,

Burrowing in the deep to reach the darkness beneath,

Bleeding black blood poisoning our precious sea,

Everyday gets hotter than the one before,

Tomorrows too late since there may not be anymore,

Watch as the mighty magenta sets one last time,

For following leaders that lead us blind.

Great title, and the message throughout this piece really packs a punch. We as humans always tend to leave things to the last minute. But we really shouldn’t when it comes to our precious planet. Some really great lines in this poem

“Bleeding black blood poisoning our precious sea”

Really brilliant imagery here. And your final lines really sum up the reality of the situation. It is a bit like the blind leading the blind right now

A great write. Thanks for sharing

Hey Gwen it’s so nice to meet you!! Sorry I’ve been moving and going through a lot of personal anguish so I’ve been absent but I’m finally settled down and ready to get right back into it. We all play a part in the state of our planet and I’m glad you understand that this is a collective effort because our children have to stay here after we are gone. Id rather die doing what’s wrong than live a lie. I am Looking forward to reading your work as well! 💯

Wow what an epic poignant piece. Your title is perfect. And I also think.tje last lines really hits the reader hard.
how humans are destroying the only planet that is giving us life and leaders are only interested in how much money can be made. Powerful write. Pinned! Px

Hey Savani! I’m so glad you liked this piece it’s been so long since I wrote anything so this was a breath of fresh air. I am glad you got the message I was trying to convey without directly saying it. This world could be so much better than it is but it never will when people only care about themselves and materialistic needs. I look forward to reading your work as well! 👍🏼
