Deadbeat Renter

(circa 2015)
Having lost my teaching job,
the year after my peers
voted me Teacher of the Year,
courtesy of bi-polar bitch boss -
an expert at harassment,
I needed to supplement my income.
I rented out one of my rooms for $650.
I interviewed a short order cook
named Mike who made $400 a week,
and during the interview,
I did not ask him if he was a smoker.
He often did make his $650 rent.
An eight dollar pack of cigarettes a day
costing him $240 a month.
“Mike, if cut you intake
of cigarettes to half, and
you have an extra $120 a month.”
Short Order Cook Mike says,
“Shoot, $240 for cigarettes,
I spend twice as much on Red Bull!”
Apparently, his monthly rent
to Marlboro cigarettes and Red Bull
was easier than the
rent he owed his landlord.

Hi JCG,
Your poem is hysterical. Being a former partner with my father in property rentals, I know exactly where you are coming from. I give you my poem now in response.
Cigarettes and Red Bull, are where Mike's allegiance lies;
If he shorts you on your monthly check, it should not come as a big surprise!
For the Red Bull gives him "quarters", a big room for his improvement;
And the cigarettes give him the shower, for they cleanse him of your rent!
Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
Wasn't meant to be hysterical. But thank you for your constructive criticism
Who are you? My response was meant for the author of the poem, whom I have a very good relationship with. Where do you come by, to say his write was not based on humor. I have commented on many of his poems before, and I do not need a moderator.
I am the author of this poem. I was referring to my writing was not meant to be hysterical. Sorry for the confusion
I must have gotten lost in translation lol (sorry) I literally JUST joined this site.. I thought this was a comment on my entry
