Poem -

Dear African Child

  • Dear African Child, you are allowed to fail before you can succeed.

You are allowed to cry when a part of you breaks.

You are allowed to feel pain, you're only human.

You are allowed to sing when you're happy, even if your voice doesn't allow singing.

You're allowed to fight for a beautiful life.

You are allowed to pamper yourself whenever you see fit.

You are allowed to see the world as what it could be

You are allowed to go through different motions and changes.

You are allowed to fall in love with yourself.

You are allowed to be a King or a Queen, you do not need royalty to be such.

My Dearest African Child

You are not allowed to give in to being a victim of circumstance.

You are not allowed to hide behind the shadows of those bigger or greater than you.

You are not allowed to give in to weakness.

You are not allowed to rob yourself of beauty, courage and kindness.

You are not allowed to take off your crown, even though it's made of thorns.

Dear African Child

Stay strong, stand tall, wear your crown with pride.

The Thorn Crown will soon be of Gold
