Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy, Thank you for all the things
You told me in your voice that rings
With laughter,
But that was just after
You beat me into line
Told me to be sublime
An object for men's desire.
After all, isn't that the point of fire
Raging inside me
I don't get to choose who I will be
I am worth nothing, after all.
Isn't that what you would call
Me daddy, a worthless girl,
Useful only as a pearl
In the eyes of men
A perfect object to be beaten when
I do not conform.
I now cannot transform
Into anyone worth being
Anyone worth seeing
I am worthless now,
Just like you told me. Anyhow,
You love me, don't you?
You will let me come back to you
When no-one else will take me
Because of you
But no-one loves me except you,
Daddy dear,
Is it not clear
To me and mine
That I am anything but divine
I am worthless, useless,
And can only impress
One such as you
Because it was you
That made me weak
And could only speak
To you.
I am worthless
Because you told me so.
So thank you, daddy.
You did this to me.
But you'll still take me back.
Won't you?
Please?
