Dear Robin Williams

Dear Robin Williams,
Why did you have to die? Why did you kill yourself? I know you had depression and you dealt with addiction. I know that you felt like you were in a "Catch-22," just like Neil Perry. I bet you thought that in the last portion or, perhaps, even for most of your life, you weren't living, you were just suffering. Even though you probably knew that death wasn't the best thing, you probably thought that it would be the only way to stop the suffering. You thought that you were trapped. That's no reason to end your life, though, especially when you're so fortunate to be living your dream and to be loved by so many.
You had a family, and you hurt them so badly. You had fans, too, and people who looked up to you. Suicide is selfish, even if you feel like your life is falling apart and there's no way for it to get better. There is always a better option. How are you supposed to "suck the marrow out of life" now? You could have had many more years ahead of you. You could be seizing the day.
I find it ironic how in Dead Poets Society, Neil committed suicide because he was trapped, and then you did the same thing because you were trapped. I thought that you would have looked back at the movie and reviewed your decision before killing yourself. You must have felt pain at Neil's death while filming the movie and even afterwards, just like I did while watching it. Did you know not of what was to come if you ended your life? Did you not know that you would be hurting so many people? Didn't you know that there was a better option? I wish that you could answer these questions, but I wish more that I didn't have to ask them.
Even though what you did was completely horrible, I still hope that there is a heaven and that you could be there. You did do many great things for the world. You made us laugh like crazy, you helped us to learn through Mr. Keating, you inspired us, you gave us hope.
You still are doing these things, even though you're no longer with us. Your memory will be here forever. The "powerful play" may still go on and, with it, your "verse." Although, I think that you "contributed" more than just a "verse." Thank you for that; Thank you for making me smile.
From,
Victoria Meyer

Wow! Thanks! I'm so happy you liked it, and I'm glad to have inspired you.
Thank you so much!
I know- it is such a sad and tragic thing. I wish it never happened, but we just have to live with the fact that it did.
I lost two close friends and my father to suicide. So this spoke to me. Thank you for writing this - and sharing it too. Smiles.
